Outlines the Absence policy for the Online Written/English Oral Examination in Iowa

Absence Policy

If you are late or absent from your exam, you may request an excused absence through your Credentia Platform account. You must submit your request within 14 calendar days of the exam date for one of the following reasons:

  • Illness (yourself or a household member)
  • Death in the family
  • Traffic accident or ticket
  • Court appearance or jury duty
  • Military duty
  • Weather emergency
  • Incarceration

Please Note: That No-Shows do not count as an official exam attempt.

Your request must include documentation to support your reason for being absent. For example:

  • Jury Duty: Upload a copy of the court notice.
  • Illness: Include verification from a medical provider.

Please note that it may take 3-5 calendar days to review your request. The decision to approve or deny the excused absence will be final.

Weather Emergencies

Exams will only be delayed or canceled in cases of emergency. If severe weather or a natural disaster makes the test site unsafe or inaccessible, the exam will be delayed or canceled.

If there is a change to your exam due to weather conditions, you will be notified of the cancellation by phone and email using the contact information you have on file.
